Hey everyone...

Just a reminder, people should be making their blogs right now. Even if you're just a reader, you may still want to post on your blogger page about your interests, etc.

To be a part of Writer's Block:
  • CREATE a blog
  • *NOTE* Keep in mind that if you intend to write both stories and poems and other short pieces, keep the different stories separate. Each long story that would be posted in parts need their OWN_SEPARATE_BLOG. This is to eliminate confusion for your readers, so that they don't read irrelevant poems in between chapters.
  • RENAME yourself with an alias (if you want). Click "Customize" and then "Dashboard". On the right side, you will see your blogger info. Click "Edit Profile". Uncheck "Show my real name". Under "Identity" you can find "Display Name" and there you can enter your alias, or pen name.
  • CUSTOMIZE it (optional)
  • LINK to main site: www.blogvsblock.blogspot.com
  • {Click on "Customize" on the top right of your blog; it would take you to the template page, now click "Add a Page Element" above your "About Me"; THEN choose "Link List" (should be the first one on the right column) and click "Add to Blog"; Input a title for your link list and leave the "Number of links to show" blank; put our link in the New Site URL and Writer's Block in the New Site Name. Click "Add Link". Click "Save Changes" and you're done!}
  • {You may also want to link to some other WB blogs that you find interesting or are one of the ones you like reading most.}
  • PROVIDE your blog link to me, so that I may link you to the main.
  • GET a chat widget (see instructions below)
  • POST your work
  • WRITE a synopsis (template provided below) and send it to me. You may also wish to post it on your blog or text box.
  • UPDATE in the Chat box to the left on our main blog (this page) if you posted!! You want site traffic!
  • VISIT each other's blogs and read and comment! Feedback! This helps everyone improve.
  • PUBLICIZE with your friends, family and other people who may be interested.
To get a chat widget:
  • CLICK here
  • MAKE an account. Be sure to put your blog address as your website.
  • PICK a chat box
  • GO TO "Cbox Options" Messages Section. Select: Oldest at top
  • DOUBLECHECK on "Quick Setup" that you did NOT check the box: Popup Cbox
  • COPY and PASTE the code into a javascript module.
  • {Click "customize at the top right of your blog; you will arrive at the template page. Click "Add a Page Element" where you added the link to WB. This time, choose HTML/Javascript (third on the 2nd column) and click "Add to Blog"; Put a title for your chatroom/widget/thing and then paste the code in "Content" box. Be extremely careful that you don't leave out anything in the code, OR add in an extra letter or something. It would mess up the whole code. Now click "Save Changes" and you're done!}
  • REGULATE your comments. You can always delete unwanted comments under the "Messages" tab.
To write a synopsis (click here for sample), use this template:
  • Blog url: (your site)
  • Genre: (fiction? fantasy? What type of story)
  • Narration: (First person? Third?)
  • Protagonist: (Gender, Age, etc. anything useful to know for the reader)
  • Setting: (Either use a real time/place, or make one up)
  • Posting Schedule: (how often do you post? make an estimate)
  • Status: (is your work mostly complete? or still working on it? applies mostly to stories)
  • Supposed Length: (Novel? Novella? Short Story? Epic Poem? Song?)
  • Goal: (Publication, Completion? Just to improve writing skills?)
  • Synopsis: (here is where you make a sneak preview into your story. the goal is to let readers have a look at what this is about, so they wouldn't have to go all the way to your story and realize it doesn't really suit their taste. OR not bothering to go to your story at all when it's just the one that they would love!)

If any of this is confusing or doesn't work, email/facebook msg/talk to me and I'll help you to the best of my abilities.

RULES & REGULATIONS

  • Constructive Criticism: If you think something is bad, back it up. Don't exactly say, "YOU SUCK!" and leave it at that. Worse, don't condemn others, "You spell like a 2nd grayder," hypocrite. Please be nice.
  • Be Respectful: This applies to both treating other readers and the authors nicely. Don't be rude to people with other viewpoints. Don't be tyrannical towards the author and blackmail them to change disagreeable endings. Don't make fun of anyone for what they write or say. AND NO PIRACY!!! Don't force us to make our stories private. We like keeping them public and availiable for anyone who's interested.
  • Be Mindful: Authors may not post every nanosecond. Understand and respect that. People are busy nowadays. If you have an issue with that, go to the government and force them to ban homework. As a law.
  • Praise (optional but encouraged): This is the biggest builder of self-esteem and self-reassurance that our authors receive. They are not PAID, so give them some props and help them on their way to professionalism and maybe one day they will be published, renowned authors. You never know =)
  • Enjoy Your Time Here: No rush. No Pressure. This is for fun. With school today, pleasure reading is almost a forgotten memory. Let's bring it back.
